ABSTRACT

Objective To evaluate the impact of fish oil (ω-3 fatty acids) parenteral nutrition (PN) on outcomes for non-ICU postoperative patients. Methods PubMed,Embase,Cochrane,China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) and Wanfang Database etc.were searched to retrieve the eligible studies published from January 2010 to June 2016.The studies included were randomized controlled trials (RCTs) that evaluated the effects of supplementation of fish oil (Omegawen) in PN regimens for postoperative patients on clinical outcomes. The methodological quality assessment was based on Jadad scale and Schulz allocation concealment tool.Meta-analysis was conducted by RevMan 5.3 software. Results 19 RCTs,1 170 surgical patients, were included.Meta-analysis indicated that short-term fish oil supplementation significantly reduced the incidence of infectious complications [RR =0.44,95% CI (0.31,0.64),P <0.000 1] and shortened the length of hospital stay [MD =-0.85,95% CI (-1.67,-0.03),P=0.04],while with no significant effect on mortality [RR =0.42,95% CI (0.07,2.63),P =0.36] and total expenditure of hospitalization [MD =-216.60,95% CI (-718.94,285.75),P =0.40].Sensitivity analysis showed similar results. Conclusion According to existing evidence, fish oil in PN for surgical patients could reduce the incidence of postoperative infectious com-plications and shorten the length of hospital stay.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To investigate the expression of HIF-1α, HIF-2αand MT in human papillary thyroid carcinoma ( PTC) and the association of their expression with clinicopathological indicators .Methods:Immunohistochemistry was used to analyze the ex-pression of HIF-1α, HIF-2αand MT in 70 PTC samples .The correlations of HIF-1α, HIF-2αand MT expression with one another , and with several clinicopathological indicators were statistically analyzed .Results:In 70 PTC samples, the positive expression rates of HIF-1α, HIF-2αand MT were 52.86%(37/70), 50.00%(35/70) and 44.29%(31/70), respectively.HIF-1α, HIF-2αand MT expression had significant correlations with cervical lymph node metastasis (P=0.034, P=0.022, and P=0.032, respectively). Meanwhile, HIF-1αexpression had a positive correlation with HIF-2α(rs =0.258, P=0.031) and MT (rs =0.266, P=0.026). HIF-2αand MT expression were positively correlated (rs=0.259, P=0.030).Concomitant expression of any two or all of the three molecules had stronger correlation with lymph node metastasis than did each alone ( P=0.004 for HIF-1α/HIF-2α, P=0.024 for HIF-1α/MT, P=0.029 for HIF-2α/MT, P=0.017 for HIF-1α/HIF-2α/MT).Conclusion:HIF-1α, HIF-2αand MT expression in PTC samples have a closely correlation , which are related to cervical lymph node metastasis .Therefore, the expression of HIF-1α, HIF-2αand MT might be used as biomarkers for cervical lymph node metastasis of PTC .

ABSTRACT

Clinical data of 6 children with retrocaval ureter were retrospectively analyzed.Diagnoses were mainly based on ultrasound-guided high-dose venous urography, computed tomography(CT)or renal dynamic imaging(single photon emission computed tomography).Surgical operation was the optimal treatment of choice, resulting in different improvement in hydronephrosis but no anastomotic stenosis.
